About Vincent Ginis
Vincent Ginis received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in engineering sciences, both summa cum laude, from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. In 2014, he obtained a PhD in applied sciences, with commendation from the examination board. His research group explores the interaction between machine learning, physics, information theory and complex systems. In particular, they specialize in explaining the operation and use of AI systems. Vincent is also a visiting professor at the Harvard University School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
Vincent has presented his research worldwide and published in leading scientific journals, including Science and Nature Photonics. He is a sought-after speaker at international conferences and an active reviewer for leading scientific journals.
He has received several national and international awards for his scientific work, including the Agathon De Potter Prize in Physics and the Solvay Prize for PhD thesis.
In 2017, he was chosen as one of the 10 new members of the Young Academy of Belgium and one of the top 50 tech pioneers in Belgium. Between 2019 and 2021, he co-chaired the Young Academy of Belgium. His contributions aim to enhance academic awareness about the power of algorithmic feedback loops and Goodhart's law.
